Bishop's Z's Testimony:
When I was only 9 years old, my family had to move from our home into a low income housing project because we were poor. Poverty-level poor. Early on I found my way around the streets and by the time I was a teenager I was dealing drugs and involved with a gang.
Eventually I became adept at petty crimes, even moving up to car theft, and ended up getting shot at point blank range! I was pronounced dead-on-arrival.
Through the awesome power of God, I emerged from a comatose state months later, a changed man - born again, full of joy, and dedicated to a new life in Christ! Bishop Z, FLAVA Ministry
More Amazing Testimonies:
From Taesean Blanding, Hopewell, VA: All my life I've gone through a lot. My father was never there for me, but my mother did all she could for me and my three sisters. We lived in public housing for 10 years and I watched my mother go through a long-term abusive relationship. When she finally let him go we were evicted because of the police being called so many times. But God was there for us. Right around the time we got evicted, our Section 8 Housing request was granted and we were able to move into a new house!
Through all of this my grades were poor, but God kept nudging me. I made it to high school, still struggling, and failed the 9th grade twice. Finally I decided to give up high school and get a GED instead. During this time my mom was diagnosed with sacrodoses and we had to move out of our home, moving in with my grandmom. I was about to sign up for the GED when I was told about a class I could take that would allow me to complete the 9th grade during the 1st semester, and the 10th grade during the 2nd! I took the class and I really struggled, but PRAISE GOD, through His mercy and grace I passed the class! That made me a Junior!
I also went to night school so that I could graduate at the same time as (my) Class of 2010. The fee was $350 and with my mom being in the hospital, there was no way we could afford the payment. But God worked a miracle! I was given permission to take the class without worrying about the payment! I almost cried, cuz I knew that was nothing but God! And... I was one credit short to actually graduate, but I was able to take summer school and I passed with an "A!"
I had my own personal graduation on August 5, 2010.
Believe me, no matter what you go through, no matter what happens, GOD IS THERE! I give God praise for everything! So many people tried to discouraged me or talk me into settleing for the GED, but God made sure I got my high school diploma. Now I'm a student at John Tyler Community College, majoring in Mass Communications, and I plan to tranfer and finish my major at VCU!
Just put God 1st - no matter what! He will shelter you, protect you, provide for you, and be there for you. THAT'S WHY HE IS WORTHY TO BE PRAISED!
From BnDC, God Really Moves!
As many of you know, I traveled with Christian Rappers BnDC
(Blessed n Da City) to Washington, DC for the next round of competition in the
Making the Next Hit contest. We arrived at DJ Fahrenheit's studio and met the other top 10 winners from Maryland and DC, along with the 9 remaining winners from Richmond (where BnDC won first place!).
For this competition the names of each group were placed inside of three, state-designated buckets. The names were pulled at random to form "new" groups, who were asked to collaborate and compose a three minute song - all within one hour! The song had to be recorded, and everyone in this (new) group had to be heard on that recording.
Some groups had up to seven members each, and when paired with two other groups had as many as twenty artists, all trying to work together to create a song and be heard on it individually! Some of the groups were 'gangsta rappers,' many were 'high' and almost all of them used foul language. As various names were called I'd pray, "No Lord, please, not them!" I continued to pray and at one point noticed a rapper, MC Eboni, who seemed nervous. I asked if I could pray for her and she agreed. God was steadily showing the power of His might.
We waited and waited until there were no more names in the buckets. What was going on? One of the organizers asked who hadn't been called - and guess who?
BnDC, MC Eboni, and "Richstyle" - a group of two young men & a nine year old youth. The organizer said he couldn't understand how he missed our names, because they were placed in the buckets! I said "Thank you Lord!" and I could hear the echo of others, saying "Wow, his prayer worked!" What an awesome opportunity to witness about the power of God!
Our group didn't get out of the studio until 3:00am because we were last, but we produced a fantastic song about motivation and the engineers were impressed. But that's not all! During the day as we waited our turn to get in the studio (over 6 hours) BnDC and I toured downtown DC. As we walked, God led me to ask people if I could pray for them. Strangers warmed up to us, and BnDC offered samples of their rap. Everywhere people would say "Yes, please pray for me!"
We prayed all sorts of prayers... to stop smoking, let go of fear, progress in education, just to name a few. It was tremendously exciting!
God is so AWESOME! Nothing can compare to HIM!
Now the wait is on for BnDC to be chosen for the finals in Miami. Please join me in prayer for BnDC to be chosen, and for Godly protection and direction.
One love, Bishop Z & BnDC.
